An exhibition of the Kunstsammlung der Berliner Volksbank and the Kunststiftung DZ BANK.
The exhibition, which opens in September 2023, is part of the annual Berlin Art Week.
Painting, sculpture, graphic art, video and photography enter into a direct exchange and allow common strategies and positions to become vivid. Classical genres of painting such as the figure, the portrait or the cityscape are also defining themes in artistic photography. Tendencies towards abstraction increasingly overcame the boundaries of the traditional genres in the late 20th century.
The Kunstsammlung der Berliner Volksbank, which focuses on figurative art from the 1980s and 1990s in Berlin and East Germany, and the extensive photographic collection of the Kunststiftung DZ BANK both have a cooperative background. For the first time, works from these outstanding art collections will be on display together in one exhibition.
