Michael Morgner was born in Chemnitz in 1942. Between 1961 and 1966, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. From 1966, he worked as an independent artist in Dittersdorf and Chemnitz. He was a co-founder of the artist group and Produzentengalerie (co-operative gallery) “Clara Mosch” in 1977. He lives and works in Einsiedel, Chemnitz.
