A special kind of photo safari was experienced by 31 former students aged 11 to 16 from the Junior Zoo Universität in 2014. After partaking in a photography course with journalist and photographer Heinz Krimmer, the participants visited Berlin Zoo and Tierpark Berlin. The focus of the search for motifs was “Die Letzten ihrer Art – Bedrohte Tierarten im Zoo und Tierpark Berlin” (The last of their kind – endangered species at Berlin Zoo and Tierpark).

Until the 29th of August 2014, the results of the young animal photographers are on display in cooperation with the Werkstatt für Kreative on the first floor of the Berliner Volksbank headquarters, Budapester Str. 35. The photographs were sold on the 30th of August during the anniversary celebration on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Junior Zoo University. The proceeds will go to the Epulu-Okapi sanctuary in the Ituri rainforest of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which was raided and destroyed in 2012.
