The Werkstatt für Kreative will be part of the KinderKulturMonat in October!
Come to us and experience the exciting world of Berlin’s arts in the workshop REMIX: Die große Freiheit in der Kunst (REMIX: The Great Freedom in Art). On Saturday 8.10. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. you will first visit the exhibition Aufbrüche. Abbrüche. Umbrüche. Kunst in Ost-Berlin 1985 –1995 in the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank and see how the years of reunification were experienced by the artists. A time that brought confusion and helplessness, but also suddenly offered great freedom and opened up completely new possibilities – all of this is reflected in her artworks. Then we take all artistic liberties ourselves: we cut, we glue, we draw, we paint and paint over whatever we can get our hands on. From catalogues, posters, newspapers, cardboard, foam rubber and different colors we combine layer by layer old with new and foreign with our own. This is how free and very personal artistic remixes are created. Registration required!
We dare to do something and suddenly everything is possible. A moment of uncertainty and freedom at the same time, in which nobody knows what will happen next. We want to trace such moments in the workshop REMIX Die große Freiheit in der Kunst (REMIX The Great Freedom in Art). The occasion is the exhibition Aufbrüche. Abbrüche. Umbrüche. Kunst in Ost-Berlin 1985–1995 in the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank. It shows art from the years of reunification by East German artists and how they experienced the time of upheaval. A time that brought confusion and helplessness, but also suddenly offered great freedom and opened up completely new possibilities. After visiting the exhibition, we take all artistic liberties in the workshop. We cut, we glue, we draw, we paint and paint over whatever we can get our hands on. Using catalogues, posters, newspapers, magazines, cardboard, foam rubber and various colours, we combine old with new and foreign with our own, layer by layer. This is how completely free and personal mixed media works of art are created.

The Werkstatt für Kreative is looking forward to designing the pictures for the Märchenland calendar 2023 for the 33rd Berlin Märchenland Days in November 2022 with the class of the Bäke elementary school.
The educators of the Werkstatt für Kreative and Märchenland e.V. discuss this year’s theme “farewell and return – fairy tales and stories of life and death” with the children, look at different fairy tales and see what death is called and represented in other cultures. The children tell their own experiences and thus approach the topic.
In the creative part, the children make a stamp from simple materials such as cardboard and foam rubber and design and print pictures that illustrate the theme of the Märchenland days.
From all the resulting images, 12 will be selected for the calendar and published together with the texts from the writing competition. We follow the creative development process and are excited about the result.
The 33rd Berlin Märchenland Days will take place from November 3rd to 20th, 2022 with a wide variety of events.
The Werkstatt für Kreative will also offer a workshop during the Märchenland Days.
We offer workshops always on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. (except public holidays) until the end of June 2022 in our Werkstatt für Kreative at Kaiserdamm 105, in 14057 Berlin.

From March 2022 Ephra will be a guest in the Werkstatt für Kreative of the Stiftung KUNSTFORUM der Berliner Volksbank gGmbH for 4 months. Together with the team from the Werkstatt für Kreative minds, two groups of elementary school students explore Berlin studios and artistically implement what they have learned. Horizons are opened and encounters between children and artists are made possible.
The Stiftung KUNSTFORUM der Berliner Volksbank gGmbH is involved in Ephra’s project and, with its support, enables 2 x 12 children to have 7 great and eventful project days each, half a school year long, both in the Werkstatt für Kreative and the workshop program Der schöne Schein. Entwirf deinen Kunst-Spielgeldschein and the current exhibition CASH on the Wall in the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank as well as in the studios of well-known artists, some of whom are involved in the exhibition.
4 out of 7 days are studio days when you visit the artists in their studios. Here you can look over your shoulder as the art is created, interview you, take photos and also get creative yourself. On the last day, the final day, you present your results and report on your experiences.
Procedure:
In Studio RR, Rebecca Raue’s studio, the students first get to know each other and the other participants. From rounds of introductions to introductory games to artistic methods for perceiving and presenting your own strengths and weaknesses, these kick-off workshops contain everything you need to get to know the individual world of the children and create a space for exchange. We invite experts to give the students professional input on topics such as photography or interviewing. With each group that takes part in the project for half a school year, we visit about three to four artists who have their studios all over Berlin. The artists are selected according to the themes, interests and living environments of the children. This time, the focus is on the exhibition CASH on the Wall in the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank. The visits are open-ended in order to enable strong student participation. An artistic-researching approach is central. It is about broadening the view and opening up different realities of life and worlds of thought to the students in order to exchange ideas about individual visions and a life worth striving for. The children discover Berlin and its art, get to know new means of expression, practice asking questions and presenting and their self-confidence is strengthened. Part of the workshops are also small artistic exercises with the materials of the artists: inside. In addition, the excursions are prepared together with the children and documented with sketches, texts and photos.
Blue, red, green, pink! Banknote’s can be colorful and their motives as diverse as the world. But, how would the notes look, if children and teens were to design them themselves ?
In the accompanying workshop of the exhibition CASH on the Wall in the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank we will do exactly that and produce our own artistic play money. During a tour together through the exhibition we will first learn about the different approaches of the artists, additionally we will talk about the topic of money in art. In the creative part of the workshop, in the Werkstatt, using material such as self-made stamps, printing blocks made from cellular rubber and everyday materials such as cork, corrugated cardboard and bubble pack we will create individual and colorful bills with your very own motives, names and values. Once they’re dried and cut, you can start an active trade with your own toy money. You can of course take your self-made stamps and toy money back home.

For the 75th anniversary of the Berliner Volksbank as well as 35 years of the Kunstsammlung, the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank and 15 years of the “Werkstatt für Kreative”, there is an extraordinary exhibition with favourite artworks of the collection, selected by 10 employees of the bank. It is called “WIR. Proximity and Distance – Anniversary Exhibition with Works from the Art Collection of Berliner Volksbank”.
By walking through the exhibition accompanied by art educators, children and young people will learn about works by, among others, Hermann Albert, Rolf Biebl, Christa Dichgans, Klaus Fußmann, Sylvia Hagen, Angela Hampel, Werner Heldt, Thomas Hornemann, Ingeborg Hunzinger, Karl-Ludwig Lange, Wolfgang Leber, Markus Lüpertz, Wolfgang Mattheuer, Harald Metzkes, Silke Miche, Kurt Mühlenhaupt, Roland Nicolaus, Wolfgang Peuker, Erich Fritz Reuter, Cornelia Schleime, Ludwig Gabriel Schrieber, Ruth Tesmar, Christian Thoelke and Hans Uhlmann and gain initial inspiration for the subsequent workshop through the diversity of the works.
The principle of the exhibition is the particularity of a motif, which is singled out from the multitude of possibilities in a collection and examined more closely. The workshop is also dedicated to looking at a favourite object and recreating it.
Later, in the rooms of the Werkstatt für Kreative, specially selected works of art by René Graetz, Gerhard Altenbourg and Ludwig Gabriel Schrieber, among others, serve as further examples to inspire visitors to create their own works. The juxtaposition of two- and three-dimensional works leads, for example, to the question: How does a surface become a space? Afterwards, in the practical part of the workshop, the children and young people creatively put their acquired knowledge into practice under expert guidance. As always, the small works of art can be taken home.
– for children and young people between 5 and 18 years of age
– registration is required
– the offer is free of charge.
If the quota is exhausted, there is also the option of booking a workshop for a cost contribution.
For the seventh time, the Werkstatt für Kreative of the Stiftung KUNSTFORUM der Berliner Volksbank gGmbH took part in the Children’s Culture Month (KinderKulturMonat) with a free workshop. On Saturday, October 30, 2021, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the topic was modelling. When looking at works of art in the current exhibition “WIR. Nähe und Distanz – Jubiläumsausstellung mit Werken aus der Kunstsammlung der Berliner Volksbank” children and young people modeled plastic objects in the practical part of the workshop under the expert guidance of art educators. As usual, the small works of art could be taken home.
At the Children’s Culture Month, the participating children and young people can enjoy art and culture free of charge on all weekends in October in Berlin. Around 50 museums, theatres, opera houses, studios, concert halls and galleries offer more than 90 age-appropriate workshops, guided tours and visits to exhibitions and performances.
Cultural education enriches the development of very young children – it should therefore be a natural part of everyday life. The Netzwerk Frühkindliche Kulturelle Bildung brings together people from a wide range of disciplines throughout Germany who are working together to strengthen and further develop cultural education in early childhood. Initiated by three foundations and 20 experts, the Netzwerk Frühkindliche Kulturelle Bildung is now funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. It is supported by the Deutsche Kinder- und Jugendstiftung.
All interested people and institutions are welcome to join the Netzwerk Frühkindliche Kulturelle Bildung. The Stiftung KUNSTFORUM der Berliner Volksbank gGmbH also feels connected to the goals and values of the Netzwerk Frühkindliche Kulturelle Bildung. That is why it is actively involved in the network and supports it by choie.
Since 2005, the “Werkstatt für Kreative” has been offering creative workshops for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18.
